2 - THE ART OF RECOVERY: FROM WASTE RECYCLING, A STAND WITH YOUNG PEOPLE FROM THE ACCADEMIA DI BELLE ARTI DI FIRENZE
Waste Recycling presents a home-made stand at Ecomondo, created entirely from waste. This year, wood and animals take the leading roles. The stand is made of recovered wood, and the stars are animals, a quintessential symbol of respect for the environment. Birds, fish, wild and domesticated animals, mammals, reptiles and insects. It was this autumn, in fact, that Waste Recycling signed a genuine Agreement with the Accademia di Belle arti di Firenze (“Academy of Fine Arts in Florence”) on experimenting with the artistic possibilities of industrial waste. Monica Piazza’s fox, Yllli Kalivaci’s cobra, Angela Nocentini and Riccardo Casagrande’s eagle, Matteo D’Alessandro’s angler, Veronica Sarti’s parrot, Pietro Cecioni’s mouflon, Silvia Cogotzi’s toucan, Vittoria Lapolla’s peacock, some insects by Valentina Ciani, Edoardo Malagigi’s fleas and Daniele Acciai’s “horsefish”. There are also important contributions from well-known Italian artists such as the beautiful sculptures by Alberto Salvetti (Bear and Gulls) and Fabrizio Giorgi (the Monkey and the Dog), the works of Paolo Lo Giudice (the cricket and the flamingo) and Nando Segreti’s chameleon. Stefano Pilato’s whimsical Scorphano and Jeromè Cem Ispanacki’s great horse, created by assembling pieces of scrap from a car and tractor. (WASTE RECYCLING, Hall B1, stand 80)
2b – THE TETRA PAK FOOTPRINT Tetra Pak Italia is presenting important new results on the environmental front at Ecomondo, with data from the Sustainability Report: the target of 3 billion FSC-certified packs was reached in 2014. There are also important figures in terms of the reduction of CO₂, which reduced by 8% compared to 2013. In this context, attention to the commitment that Tetra Pak Italia has historically dedicated to eco-sustainable production is important as never before. In 2014 it achieved significant results in this area. Starting from the Tetra Pak pack recycling figures, which reached 22,700 tonnes and involved 38.3 million people throughout Italy. The same philosophy applies to energy saving, quantified as a 2.8% reduction in consumption per unit of production with respect to the previous year. Figures that once more represent the multinational’s commitment to the area of environmental awareness. (TETRA PAK, Hall B1, stand 080)
3 - #PAROLECRUCIALI AT #GRUPPOFIORI Parole Cruciali (“Crucial/‘Cross’ Words”) is the new interactive project from Gruppo Fiori in collaboration with Chialab, the design studio that has worked alongside the group for many years. Parole Cruciali represents the last “square” in a journey dedicated to research and the reappraisal of “scrap” as a common value, not only for those who operate in the recycling chain but for the public in its entirety, recognising reuse as a virtue and responsible practice. Guests can share their experience on social networking sites using the #parolecruciali, #gruppofiori and #ecomondo2015 hashtags on Gruppo Fiori’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels. 4 - MATTIUSSI ECOLOGIA S.P.A. EASYTECH BY MATTIUSSI ECOLOGIA S.P.A. Mattiussi Ecologia presents Easytech, a polypropylene container designed for the door-to-door collection of recyclable waste. It has been created for maximum practicality, for both users and collectors, combining two characteristics that have never been united in a single waste container up to now. Easytech is designed to be stacked easily and safely and features a wide opening with a flap that opens outwards. In general, stackable containers with protruding opening, though practical for domestic users, are less so for those who have to empty them, which always requires manual operation. Easytech, on the other hand, can also be emptied mechanically, since it features a front comb receiver.
(MATTIUSSI ECOLOGIA, Hall B1, stand 116)
5 - RETRACING YOUR STEPS? SOMETIMES THAT’S WHAT YOU NEED FOR YOUR RUN-UP Cobat is presenting a topsy-turvy world at Ecomondo this year. With its new campaign “Reverse: For every end there’s a new beginning”, it’s aiming to turn the debate squarely on its head: waste doesn’t exist – the products that we now throw away can create new raw materials that will generate new goods. People upside down, defying all laws of gravity. Dance troupes performing in rewind, walking backwards. You can see this and more at the Cobat stand. (COBAT, Hall B1, Stand 029)
