All the winners of the Best Communicator award at Marmomac 2024
01.10.2024
Verona, October 1, 2024 - The exhibition spaces at the 58th edition of Marmomac, the leading international trade fair in the stone industry, which concluded last Friday in Verona, stood out for their originality and ability to welcome visitors into environments that uniquely and creatively told the story of the companies and their products. The setups highlighted natural stone and the various product categories—from machinery and tools to raw blocks and finished products—offering creative and visually impactful solutions.
This year, the participating companies once again sought to express themselves through carefully crafted and striking exhibit designs to capture the public's attention and compete in the Best Communicator Award, the prestigious recognition that honours the best exhibit setups. Now in its 16th edition, the award has two categories: Design, focused on the aesthetic of the spaces, formal coherence, and visual impact, and Innovation, centred on the ability to present technical materials, machinery, and tools in an original and clear manner.
The awards were presented on Friday, September 27, during a ceremony held at The Plus Theatre, in the presence of Veronafiere's General Director, Adolfo Rebughini, and the jury, which included Aurelio Chinellato, architect and professor at IUSVE in the Communication Department, journalist Maria Adelaide Marchesoni, Amanda Ferber, founder, CEO, and Editor-in-chief of Architecture Hunter, and Maria Marinelli, Communication Manager at ArtVerona, highlighting the strong synergy between architecture and art.
Design Italy was awarded to Trambisera Marmi: "The setup wins for its rational project, which is aligned with the 'less is more' approach and the use of highly sustainable and adaptable materials. The coordinated image extends from the panels to every communication element, such as the catalogue, typography, and colour scheme. The decision to suspend the partition panels creates a welcoming, uninterrupted space, playing on the visual dialogue between the interior and exterior. The lighting design is well-balanced and enhances the displayed elements."
For Design International, the award went to the Greek company Stonetech: "The detail of the sample box effectively synthesizes and relates within an enjoyable stand. The use of marble blocks at different heights as bases creates an almost museum-like pathway, immediately perceivable, which culminates with the back wall designed to emphasize the materiality of the stone."
The second category, the Innovation Italy award was given to Boart & Wire: "The choice to showcase a technical product inside display cases, as if it were a museum piece, allows for a simple yet effective dramatization of the object around which a video presentation reinforces the message that narrates the company's production activity. The colour palette used for the diamond wires for stone cutting draws attention to the product while referencing the company's logo."
The Portuguese company Fravizel won the Innovation International award: "The focus on user-friendly technologies to facilitate the production process is perfectly represented by the outdoor station from which complex machines can be safely operated. The machines smartly delineate the exhibition space, which, in their static form, become the protagonists. The coordinated image, well-represented by the colour palette, clearly reflects their philosophy."
The 2024 edition of the Best Communicator Award saw many deserving stands. This is why the jury decided to award two Special Mentions. The first went to Lupi Pietre by King Stone, with the following motivation: "The path inspired by the geometric theme of the moon is perfectly orchestrated with few elements, giving a sense of entry and discovery. In a small space, the project concentrates an intense and logical narrative, based on effective lighting architecture and the philosophy of the brand and the displayed objects."
The second went to Prometec because "the monolithic panels used for projections immerse the visitor, transforming them into a spectator within the space. The large LED walls become an effective tool to narrate the company and its production system."
Last but not least, a special mention was awarded by the students of the Exhibit Design, Publishing, and Digital Graphic Design course at IUSVE(Salesian University Institute of Venice). Their choice was the Italian company Cereser Marmi: "The concept impressed the young jurors with its indirect and original approach, based on the theme of flight and linked to the simulator present in the company, which virtually takes clients to various extraction quarries. Using alternative visual codes, the different dials with time zones become a clever pretext to display the material slabs without overwhelming the space. The graphic research, especially in type design, confirms the attention to detail and the overall composition."
As always, Marmomac serves as the ideal showcase to demonstrate the sector's excellence and the creativity and ability to tell a story that fuses material, technology, and art.
