World's Water Challenges:
we each have a role to play

Ecomondo at the forefront

This year, the theme of World Water Day
was focused on the deep-rooted link
between water and climate change

Throughout the year, Ecomondo and its Technical Scientific Committee pursue objectives by proposing research, debates, conventions and articles. These objectives are: to combat the global crisis in the water and hygiene-sanitation sector; and to preserve and protect that which should be an essential right for everyone, but which is currently threatened by waste and shortages.

We are living through an historic water crisis, driven by low rainfall and climate change: water and climate are inextricably linked.
Adapting to the effects of climate change on water may protect health and save lives, while the more efficient use of water may reduce greenhouse gases. How?

  • By adopting circular production systems that use water much more efficiently.

  • By protecting carbon sinks like the oceans and wetlands.

  • By adopting environmentally-friendly agricultural techniques and promoting the increased safe re-use of waste water.

During this period of isolation due to the pandemic, when access to water just to wash our hands becomes a primary prevention strategy, let’s remember this precious resource, which we too often take for granted.
The first important step we can take is to seriously start “not to waste water”.
We each have a role to play. You too!
