Ecomondo / Key Energy: the Green Technology Expo

Ecomondo/Key Energy, the event organized at Rimini Expo Centre (7to 10 November 2017) by IEG (Italian Exhibition Group), is the first European exhibition on circular economy with more than 1,200 companies exhibiting their products and processes and 105,000 delegates from more than 40 countries, mostly from the Mediterranean area.
It represents a European appointment that anticipates the urgency and various aspects of the green economy and enables all the players to take part in the challenges and opportunities of the new era for sustainable global development.
This year edition presents different highlights: first of all, a thorough analysis of the growth and opportunities of the bio-based industry market, taking biomethane as a point of transition between renewable and traditional energy, and a focus on the systems and solutions for preventing hydrogeological risk and major climate-related risks, flooding and coastal erosion.
Special attention will be given this year to photovoltaic energy and storage, a market which now has a turnover of 950 million Euro per year, but will grow considerably in the years to come. This is proved by the two new expo sectors Key Solar, dedicated to photovoltaic energy, and Key Storage, dedicated to the storage of energy obtained from renewable sources, that increase the offer, together with Key Efficiency, dedicated to technology, systems and solutions for intelligent use of resources, and Key Wind, focused on wind energy.
As far as conferences are concerned, the issues in synergy with European circular economy development policy in the water sector will be addressed. Innovation will be a topic, in particular Horizon2020 SMART- Plant, which concerns the circular economy in urban purifiers, with scores of companies and research centers. World-renowned technologists will attend, such as the coordinator of the International Water Association resource recovery cluster and representatives of the WssTP platform, with which Ecomondo/ KeyEnergy is initiating bilateral relations.
Moreover, on the side of photovoltaic energy, the conference “Photovoltaic with storage. International scenarios” coordinated by Roberto Vigotti, Chairman of Res4Med, will offer an outlook of the storage situation in Europe and in the Mediterranean area, and will present the international scenarios in order to reach the objective of UE 2030, while the event “Wind power: the international market” will outline the technical and economic opportunities of this sector, destined to play a decisive role in the years to come.
Italy is among the leading countries in Europe in the green and circular economy, in particular in energy efficiency, waste recycling and resource productivity. For this reason, Ecomondo/Key Energy is a reference point in the international scenario, where all the leading companies of the sector can meet and discover the trends, innovations and new technologies and exchange views with professionals.
Every year, Ecomondo/Key Energy confirms its role as an international not-to-be-missed event in the field of circular economy, as we can see from figures: more than 1,200 companies on 113,000 sqm of expo spaces, more than a hundred of conferences and speakers; 550 buyers involved in 4,500 business meetings; 520 journalists and 163 millions media contacts thanks to the eco of media and social networks.
