Exhibition Carpets of Stone

Exhibition Carpets of Stone

29.09.2015

curated by Raffaello Galiotto and Vincenzo Pavan

Just as woven rugs were laid on the ground along the streets and markets of ancient cities in the Middle East at regular intervals to be washed and cleaned by the feet of passers-by, so the stone pavings collected in the theme exhibition in Hall 1 (The Italian Stone Theatre) at Marmomacc will be laid along a walk-over route leading into a solid stone space rich in textures, design and colours that only natural stone can achieve.

The exhibition curated by Raffaello Galiotto and Vincenzo Pavan looks like a collage of stone carpets along a course crossing the hall longitudinally, separating the various shows and obliging visitors to walk over a stone patchwork.

Each piece differs from all the others as the outcome of a personal project conceived by international designers invited to collaborate with Italian companies in this sector. Design creativity and the precision and quality of execution by these companies highlight the infinite possibilities for interpretation, texture and colours offered by stone materials.

The Carpets of Stone exhibition is part of The Italian Stone Theatre (Hall 1) project implemented by Marmomacc with support of the Ministry for Economic Development (MISE), ICE-Italian Trade Agency and Confindustria Marmomacchine within the scope of the Special Made in Italy Promotion Plan valorising excellence in the Italian natural stone and related technology field.
