The second edition of East Afripack – the exhibition for processing, packaging and converting dedicated to emerging economies in sub-Saharan Africa – will take place in 2016, at the Nairobi Kenyatta International Conference Center, Kenya.
The decision was made by the organizers, Ipack-Ima Spa, together with US association PMMI (The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies) and the exhibition’s partners UNIDO, EAC and Kenya’s Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise Development. In addition, a calendar of events leading up to next year’s trade fair has been drawn up.
The next East Afripack is founded on solid ground: the success obtained at its debut and the impressive rebooking demand from over 50% of the 136 exhibitors. This time, the goal is to fully develop the potential shown by the exhibition right from the very first edition.
The work will start by organizing a specific initiative during IPACK-IMA 2015 at Fieramilano (from May 19 to 23). It will consist of an institution area which, throughout the exhibition, will host East African Community member countries (Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi and United Republic of Tanzania) to promote contacts and discussion between exhibitors and African institutions in view of East Afripack 2016.
The initiative runs in parallel with the EXPO 2015, which will see all East Africa Community countries gather in Milan as exhibitors from May to October. For six months, the activities put in place by these countries for the EXPO will catalyse the attention of qualified stakeholders, institutional representatives and industry professionals.
In order to spread and strengthen the East Afripack brand across the EAC region, the path to the exhibition’s 2016 edition also includes a convention in Uganda placing emphasis on the importance of packaging as a crucial leverage for technological upgrade and increased competitiveness of local SMEs. The event will be organized in cooperation with East Afripack’s partners UNIDO, EAC, Kenya’s Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise Development and ICE – the Italian agency for foreign trade.
