17.10.2023
The Orange Wine Festival in Vienna has been a trailblazer for exciting wine trends since 2012, showcasing the best of orange wine and its producers
The essence of nature in a glass
The 10th edition of the Orange Wine Festival will take place in Vienna's city centre on Monday, 23 October. This is a unique opportunity for wine lovers and wine professionals from all over the Europe and wider to discover the latest innovations and trends in the wine industry. The festival will feature more than 100 winemakers from 13 countries, who produce orange wine, a wine with a distinctive colour and flavour in harmony with nature. The event will take place at the MuseumsQuartier (Ovalhalle and Arena 21) from 14.00 to 20:30.
The Orange Wine Festival is a pioneering event in promoting wines that respect the environment and the tradition of winemaking. The festival began in 2012, when naturally produced low-intervention wines were still a niche product for a few experts.
Since then, the demand for natural wines has grown steadily, as more and more consumers are looking for authentic and ethical products. They want to taste the true expression of the grape and the terroir, and to support producers who care about the future of the planet. The Orange Wine Festival offers them a unique opportunity to meet the winemakers and to taste their natural wines in a unique atmosphere.
The Orange Wine Festival will again present the amazing diversity and quality of white-macerated (orange) wines, natural sparkling wines, and red wines from various countries, regions and producers.
Orange wines are made by fermenting white grapes with their skins, resulting in a complex and aromatic wine with a distinctive color. Pét-Nats (natural sparkling wines) are made by bottling the wine before the fermentation is complete, creating a lively and refreshing fizz. These wines are made with minimal intervention, preserving the natural expression of the grapes and the terroir and attract more and more enthusiast to the world of wine.
The event in Vienna will showcase more than 100 producers with 350 wines from 13 countries, including Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Georgia, Slovakia, Armenia, Serbia and Greece. The winemakers will present their wines, stories, philosophy and practices in person. The exhibitors list includes both well-known and respected winemakers, as well as young and innovative ones who follow ethical and sustainable principles in their vineyards and cellars.
The wine tasting will be complemented by a professionally guided tasting of premium olive oils. The gastronomical experience will be enriched by exquisite dishes created by chefs who embrace the same vision and values as the winemakers.
For 50 euros, the visitor will receive a glass, an Orange Wine Festival branded glass holder, a catalogue and a possibility to taste 350 wines plus food and an olive oil tasting.
