Rimini, 2nd June 2014 - 253,978 visitors (a 4% increase on 2012), with a great multitude of trade members, buyers and presenters; a continuous rise of foreigners (5%) from 68 countries, with a clear preponderance from East Europe, Russia, Turkey, South America and Middle East; over 160 million contacts in the media, entire pages in the major daily papers, troupes from the leading networks’ TV and radio transmissions, reports in prime-time TV newsreels, daily coverage in local and regional press, specialist Italian and foreign magazines out in their entirety, an extraordinary profile on the social networks: from Facebook to Twitter, Pinterest and Youtube for an event that is an authentic media platform; a fantastic area, tailor-made for this huge show, was able to welcome and highlight the event in the city, along the coast and inland, wonderfully overrun by the hundreds of thousands of attendees from the wellness world.
The 9th edition of RIMINIWELLNESS, the huge Rimini Fiera show dedicated to fitness, wellness and sport that brings together in a single not-to-be-missed event the entire world of body energies, beat every previous record.
With the patronage of the Emilia Romagna Region, Rimini Province and Rimini Municipality and with the media partnership of QN/QS and m2o, it totalled 400 exhibitors and partners, occupying the whole expo centre and filling all 16 halls, with 48 stages, 96,000 square metres indoors and 66,000 outdoors, hosting the various core aspects of living well and in harmony with one’s body and the environment: fitness, wellness, dance & sport fashion, wellness tourism, contract & design, music and nutrition.
RIMINIWELLNESS is the expression of pure energy, relaxation and enjoyment, a flood of new products and methods from all over the world, movement in every form, synonymous with a passion for sport, the religion of training, meeting with all the aggregative phenomena of gyms and fitness centres, now expressed both physically and on the Web, as well as by means of new technological tools.
Inaugurated on Friday 30th May with the participation of Rimini’s Mayor Andrea Gnassi, Rimini Fiera chairman Lorenzo Cagnoni, showgirl and Freddy testimonial Laura Barriales and Olympic boxing champion Roberto Cammarelle, RIMINIWELLNESS 2014, in its new time slot at the end of May, ended today and confirmed its role as an international expo and the world’s most dynamic event dedicated to wellness, the place to launch new trends. An extraordinary event closely linked with an area that, as Mayor Gnassi announced, by means of a project for forming a network with the university, public institutions and private companies, has all the potential for becoming the mainstay of “wellness valley” on the seaside.

As always, numerous personalities from the worlds of sport and show business took part in the huge event: showgirl Laura Barriales, boxing champion Roberto Cammarelle, DJ Boy George, who animated the Reebok stage to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Step, the young talents from Maria De Filippi’s “Amici”, the winner Deborah Iurato, Alessio Bernabei, Christian Pace and Vincenzo Durevole, chef and scientific presenter Marco Bianchi, swimming champion Filippo Magnini, skier Max Blardone, Olympic boxing champion Clemente Russo, Vincenzo Mangiacapre, bronze medal at the London Olympics in the light welterweight category, the legendary “lord of the rings” Jury Chechi, television host Filippa Lagerback, soccer champions Marco Materazzi and Gianluca Zambrotta, dancer and TV show host Rossella Brescia, showgirls Maddalena Corvaglia, Cristina Del Basso and Terry Schiavo and pop star Kelly Joyce. Also seen on the expo’s stands, 2011-2012 world (super flyweight) boxing champion Simona Galassi, yachtsman Fabio Vignudini, boxer Matteo Signani (Italian middleweight champion), handbike champion Simone Baldini, Lorenzo Bilotti, a promising athlete, swimmers Laura Letrari and Edoardo Giorgetti and kick-boxer Annalisa Bucci.
UNIQUE FORMAT
The division into two areas was again successfully reconfirmed: W-PRO, conceived for trade and professional visitors, and W-FUN, for buffs visiting the expo. This year there was an important new entry: FOOD WELL, the new section dedicated to informative meetings on correct healthy nutrition. On exhibiting companies’ stands, visitors could taste products and learn the basic techniques with top chefs. The Web’s most popular food bloggers attended, taking intriguing photographs and reporting on food news. In the dedicated professional area, dozens of events were staged with the most important nutritionists and dieticians, well-known not only in the sports world. First and foremost, the famous Marco Bianchi, scientific presenter of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation and contributor to the blog Bello&Buono.
AVANT-GARDE EQUIPMENT
Functional circuits, climbing skyscrapers, apps that monitor training, “proprioceptive” shoes and digital wristbands that help our lifestyle, rehabilitation and health fitness: there were just some of the surprising new products at the huge Rimini show, presented by Technogym, Panatta, Johnson – Matrix, Tecnobody, Precor, Star Track, Cruising and many other companies taking part, who proposed RiminiWellness visitors the latest for gym training and home fitness.
DANCE, MUSIC, MOVEMENT AND INTERNATIONAL STARS
A great deal of space was dedicated this year to movement, energy, fitness and dance in all its forms. Previewed at world level by Freddy the new discipline Dansynq 3D, an innovative combination of dance and song was proposed, to be practiced – an absolute must - in groups and using 3D technology applied to sport. Great success for WellDance®, an official test at the 2014 Italian version of Big Brother, the new training method combining fitness and dance, with professional dancer Annarosa Petri and ballet star Raffaele Paganini. The event’s climax was the birthday of Reebok Step which celebrated this year, precisely in Rimini, where it was presented for the first time, its 25th anniversary, with a truly unique master class with a DJ live set by Boy George, acknowledged worldwide as one of the symbolic artists of the international music scene. Then there was loads of South American energy on the stage dedicated to Zumba, the real fitness world revolution, with more than 15 million enthusiastic fans worldwide. International stages hosted new ideas eagerly awaited by the public from Fit Education, Piloxing and Skechers
TRAINING GOES TECHNOLOGICAL
A great deal of space was also dedicated to the new frontiers in training of the future, with special tracksuits and electro-stimulating pants. Directly from Hungary, Rimini hosted the X Body tracksuit with electrical muscular stimulation (EMS), which causes muscles to contract by means of electrical impulses to improve physical performance and ensure solid legs and buttocks, Spiraloskin, distributed in Italy by Violet, special neoprene pants containing spiral tubes for alternating pressure that ensures further circulation stimulations.
SPACE FOR RELAXATION
RiminiWellness is all-round wellness of the mind and the body, and there were also numerous new proposals for recovering psychophysical balance and harmony (for both individuals and couples). From the Ancient Roman Thermal Massage to Tai Ji, tribal and oriental dances, Yoga for slimming to the Bio Village, which this year offered a journey through one of the five elements (water), to stimulate physical and emotional fluidity’s energies and help the body eliminate all its psychophysical toxins.
NEW IDEAS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD
This year, numerous innovations from all over the world were previewed, and to mention just a few… directly from America, Country Fitness, the new aerobic discipline that uses country music set the rhythm for the movements. Latin American atmospheres and rhythms were featured in the training of Sumbaila Latin fitness and Sambafit, unique on the Italian fitness scenario. For the more energetic, from the East, there were four very successful brand-new fitness formats on land and in water, featuring the techniques of ring sports and oriental martial arts at levels never seen before in fitness. Dozens of presenters, already international stars, animated the master classes, packed with hundreds of participants: those included some from Russia, far-off Japan and New Zealand and the United States. From the US world there was the Italian preview of Street Workout which completed the series of harder training methods proposed by Military Fitness, Playoutdoor with the Italian Army and Boot Camp, training for the marines.
CONFERENCES AND REHABILITATION
Once again this year, there were numerous events of national importance in the Wpro area, at which rehabilitation professionals (physicians, physiotherapists, masseurs, etc.) and movement technicians (sports science graduates, trainers, etc.) networked on key issues regarding the world of rehabilitation. This year, the RIABILItec professional section dedicated to Science and Technology for Rehabilitation and Functional Re-education, hosted doctors and international famous sportsmen and women who took part in conferences and round tables dedicated to interesting topics.
A GLANCE AT THE NEXT EDITION
Great initiatives are scheduled for the next edition, which will be the tenth year of RiminiWellness. The organizers are already thinking of original solutions for celebrating the event. A work table has already been set up with EXPO 2015 to include the event in the “outside the Expo” calendar and at the same time create a tourist “bridge” between Rimini and Milan.
