EPIPHANIES

EPIPHANIES - THE MATERIAL REVEALS ITSELF

At the 59th edition of Marmomac, the exhibition Epiphanies, curated by Raffaello Galiotto, presented stone as a material that progressively reveals itself through the dialogue between ancient craftsmanship and contemporary innovation.

Extracting, carving, smoothing, polishing: actions that have always allowed marble workers to unveil the “face” of marble, a beauty preserved over time and made visible through human mastery.

The exhibition explored the astonishing qualities of natural stone, which emerge as true epiphanies throughout the successive stages of processing. Technological evolution, combined with the precision and sensitivity of artisanal techniques, has led to outstanding results, revealing new and fascinating aspects of an ancient yet ever-modern material.

Often perceived as cold, heavy, and opaque, stone - when approached with knowledge, sensitivity, and sometimes through extreme techniques - can astonish by expressing unexpected lightness, luminosity, and depth.
