The 2017 edition of Marmomac will again be home to The Italian Stone Theatre, the hall dedicated to culture, training and experimentation with natural stone and technologies, implemented in part thanks to the Special Made in Italy Promotion Plan in collaboration with the Italian Ministry for Economic Development, ICE-Italian Trade Agency and Confindustria Marmomacchine.
Exhibitions and installations highlighting the technical and artistic skills of Italian companies will be joined by Ristorante d’Autore, a venue dedicated to fine food interpreted by star chefs in a scenic setting as ever inspired by marble and natural stone.
The title of this year's project - Rosso Verona - pays homage to the city of Verona, its history and its architecture created using materials such as Ammonite Red and Prun Stone as well as tuffs since Roman times. An intimate framework with various shades of red highlighting geometries in turn reflecting the fossils imprisoned in the stone, such as the famous ammonitic marble.
Yet red also recalls many other aspects that can be associated with Verona: wine and in particular Amarone, presented here in pairings with dishes thanks to collaboration with the Famiglie dell'Amarone, the association that brings together thirteen historical wine-makers in the Valpolicella district committed for generations to supporting and promoting the local area and one of its most highly-prized valuable red wines; Verona red chicory also boasts ancient and consolidated agricultural and food traditions safeguarded and promoted by the Consorzio Tutela Radicchio di Verona IGP also Involved in this project; not to mention love and its deepest essence with the young, star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet celebrated in Shakespeare's story set in Verona and represented here the famous balcony reproduced in stone Rosso Ammonitico di Verona at the entrance to the restaurant.
“This year's project highlights and unites the various natural vocations of our province," said Giovanni Mantovani, CEO & Director General of Veronafiere. I especially refer to the food and wine sector, as well as the flourishing stone industry in the marble district, the natural stones of Verona itself and the added value of history and culture in a city boasting UNESCO world heritage status. These are strategic assets that Veronafiere and this new initiative at Marmomac combine in perfect synthesis, keeping faith with its role in promoting territorial marketing, as well as its mission as a platform for promoting business for companies."
“We are honoured to represent one of the items of excellence from the Valpolicella area and be among the protagonists of the Rosso Verona project paying homage to the city, its history and its products," said Maria Sabrina Tedeschi, President of the Famiglie dell'Amarone d'Arte association. "Amarone is unquestionably is a wine that embodies the traditions of our families around the world by reconciling love for the past with a desire to look to the future and innovate. The vineyards on our hillsides represent the origins of this great wine and have moulded Valpolicella's unforgettable landscape. Moreover, marble and Amarone have always been two of the main products in this area - and for both of them, art and know-how have for centuries been a value to be preserved and handed down.”
Discover the colour of materials and the shades of wine, let yourself be embraced by love for romantic stories, the pleasures of good food in a spiral of passion surrounding diners.
Various shades of red are interpreted through equally various shades of marble, wine and chicory - the latter two items are in the forefront of menus offered to people attending the show by four star chefs against this extraordinary setting: Giancarlo Perbellini (Casa Perbellini, Verona), Marco Scandogliero (Locanda Le 4 Ciacole, Roverchiara - Verona), Marco Volpin (Le Tentazioni, Saonara – Padua) and Enrico Bartolini (Ristorante Glam, Venice).
