The European Strategy for plastics and the problems of marine litter among the focuses
in collaboration with Legambiente, Enea, PlasticsEurope, Corepla, Assobioplastiche and Federchimica
Rimini Expo Centre, 6-9 November 2018
https://en.ecomondo.com/ Rimini, 4th June 2018 – European Strategy for plastics and its developments; the most advanced experiences of the circular bioeconomy in OCSE countries and Industry 4.0 applied to waste management and use; the protection, recovery and reuse of water resources. These are just a few of the issues at the centre of the flagship events of the next edition (the 22nd) of Ecomondo, organized by Italian Exhibition Group, from 6th to 9th November 2018 at Rimini Expo Centre.
They will form the core of the comprehensive program of meetings and conferences organized by the Ecomondo technical-scientific committee (chaired by Professor Fabio Fava) which every year involves very high profile experts and organizations (academical bodies, associations and institutions) fromItalyand abroad.
Ecomondo is an outpost of the great changes introduced by the new paradigm of the circular economy, along with the campaign launched by the UN’s Environment program for the 2018 World Environment Day (5th June): the fight against plastic.
From tomorrow Ecomondo will launch a campaign for exploiting and highlighting the best practices that companies field for reducing plastic pollution. The innovations will be gathered and highlighted at Ecomondo 2018.
The international flagship events will involve a large number of Italian and foreign speakers among the most qualified in the various sectors. The panel is conceived by the technical-scientific committee to ensure the in-depth coverage of the hottest topics in the various evolving sectors of the green & circular economy.
Some advance news:
On Wednesday 7th November the conference entitled How to Implement the European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy, will set itself the objective of giving a boost to the European Strategy for Plastics launched by the European Commission in February of this year, the first developments of which have been seen recently with the Brussels directive that bans drinking straws, cotton buds and other plastic products.
The conference will address the industry of biobased and biodegradable plastics as well as that of traditional plastic, which must face the market’s new challenges.
Organization is by the Ecomondo technical-scientific committee and Legambiente, along with Assobioplastiche, Corepla, Federchimica, PasticsEurope Italia, Enea and Res Urbis H2020 project
A total of 25.8 million tons of plastic is produced in Europe every year, whereas plastic waste has a total weight of 49 million tons: less than 40% is recycled.
At Ecomondo the eCircular project promoted by Climate-Kic with theUniversity ofBologna as group leader will indicate the possible actions for drastically reducing plastic’s effect on the environment.
Closely connected with the plastic issue, the problem of marine litter is confirmed as a particularly important topic for Ecomondo, who will propose for the third consecutive year, along with Legambiente and Enea, the conference on the prevention and management of marine litter, with the sector’s top international experts, ready to put the most recent knowledge and expertise on the matter at everyone’s disposal.
Circular bioeconomy is by no means new terrain for the OCSE. The international organism is taking part directly in Ecomondo with the event Circular Bioeconomy: National Case Studies of Innovation Ecosystems. By means of the participation of top exponents of the respective countries, a comparison will be possible between the cases of Japan, USA, France, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium and, obviously, Italy. The event will be chaired by OCSE representative James Philip and Philippe Mengal, executive director of the BBI JU, the European Union's public-private joint undertaking dedicated to developing the bioeconomy inEurope.
The avant-garde of research and its application to the management and exploitation of water resources will be another important chapter at Ecomondo, with the Global Water Expo section in close collaboration with Utilitalia. A key event, being held for the first time in Italy, and for the first time in a southern European country, will be the European Nutrient Event, a two-day event organized at Ecomondo by the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform, a body that at European level, along with some member countries, promotes research on the recovery from urban wastewater of phosphorus, a raw material that causes problems.
On the other hand, Industry 4.0 for greater efficiency in waste management and use will be at the centre of a meeting organized by the Ecomondo technical-scientific committee along with the CNR and the Universities of San Marino andBologna. In fact, robotics and automation are essential for improving the selection of waste after its collection, while the Internet of Things and data analytics contribute to making logistics “smarter”.
Among the events to be remembered there is the tenth edition of the Sustainable Development Award, promoted by the Foundation for Sustainable Development in collaboration with Ecomondo. The Award will be assigned to the best enterprises in the sectors Water and resources, Sustainable construction and Energy from renewable sources. The competition was launched a few days ago. The awards ceremony will be held at Rimini Expo Centre, on 8th November, during Ecomondo.

RENEWABLES MEET THE FUTURE AT KEY ENERGY
With the Energy Transition Hub at Rimini Expo Centre, from 6th to 9th November 2018, Key Solar, Key Storage, Key Wind and Key Efficiency. A technical symposium on solar energy and energy storage on 3rd May in Milan
http://en.keyenergy.it/ Rimini, 13th April 2018 – In just over ten years, half our electricity will be generated from renewable sources, such as wind and solar power, and we will travel using increasingly numerous electric vehicles: estimates talk about a global penetration of 55% of battery-driven cars; traditional combustion systems will gradually disappear. This is the low-carbon future forecast by many people for European cities and which will be anticipated at Key Energy, the main expo for renewables, which will be held from 6th to 9th November 2018 at Rimini Expo Centre simultaneously with Ecomondo.
The 2018 edition of Key Energy, also organized by Italian Exhibition Group, highlights photovoltaic energy and energy storage systems, solutions for energy efficiency in industry and the residential sector and those for sustainable and connected mobility. Now at its 12th edition, the international trade fair for renewable energy and sustainable mobility is re-launching Key Solar and Key Storage, the two new 2017 features, which will be back in 2018, boosted by the participation of numerous international brands.
Rimini’s Energy Transition Hub confirms Key Wind, the key event that is the reference point for the wind energy industry, which also addresses the Balkan and Middle East markers, organized in collaboration with Italy's National Wind Energy Association, and will feature the participation of all the major industry members and manufacturers of on-shore e off-shore plants. Hall B5 will once more also host Key Efficiency, the section dedicated to technology, systems and solution for intelligent use of energy sources in an industrial context.
Once again this year, ENEA will have the task of presenting and discussing in the Energy Room the issues of energy efficiency in industry, with topics such as: the evolution of energy diagnosis in the light of the decree for conventional and unconventional companies with large-scale energy consumption, Instruments for the economic assessment of work to improve energy efficiency; and in the residential field, providing means for assessing new contracts and financial facilities dedicated to buildings’ energy efficiency and on the value of efficiency on the real estate market.
Lastly, sustainable mobility will be represented at the core of Key Energy-Ecomondo by new green technologies
dedicated to transport and the numerous examples of shared mobility: car sharing, bike sharing and car pooling.
Among the initiatives of Key Energy on tour, a fundamental stop dedicated to solar energy and energy storage, a technical symposium has been organized in Milan, and will be held on 3rd May at the Hotel Michelangelo (2:30 pm – Sistina Room, Piazza Luigi di Savoia, 6).This is an important opportunity, also in the light of the positive prospects for the sector, to once again find a reference point and identify the new opportunities that are opening up.
The conference will enable to give an insight on the situation in various contexts - from revamping to storage, from “utility scale” plants to solar communities – in which an acceleration of the action in the light of the SEN’s ambitious objectives is expected.
Speakers will include Gianni Silvestrini, Scientific Director of Kyoto Club and Chairman of the Key Energy Scientific Committee, Leonardo Botti ANIE Rinnovabili Councillor, Paolo Rocco Viscontini President, Italia Solare, Agostino Re Rebaudengo Vice-president, Elettricità Futura, Fabio Zanellini Chairman, Storage Commission and smart grid group, ANIE Energia, Massimo Ricci Wholesale Energy and Environmental Sustainability Market Management, ARERA, Tommaso Barbetti Founding Partner, ELeMeNS, Carlo Cascella Head of Italian Business Development, Enel Green Power, Roberto Vigotti Secretary General, RES4MED. This will be followed by a round table at which participants will include representatives of some top players of the sector, including: Canadian Solar, EF Solare, Hendor Capital Ltd, Moroni & Partners, Senec and Sonnen. Patrizia Cecchi and Alessandra Astolfi will speak on behalf of Italian Exhibition Group.
